Job Description:

Fresh Coast Alliance, a growing Muskegon-based nonprofit organization, is actively seeking a detail-oriented and experienced person to join our team as Staff Accountant. Committed to creating positive change in Muskegon County, Fresh Coast Alliance provides resources for those coming out of incarceration and addiction and improves the quality of life for our community members.

Position Overview:

The Part-Time Accountant will play a crucial role in managing all financial transactions for Fresh Coast Alliance and its subsidiary ACAC, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Accountant will handle the overall accounting responsibilities for the organization, as well as working with the Board of Director’s Treasurer to deliver accurate financial reporting for budgeting and strategic planning.

Key Qualifications:

Previous bookkeeping experience (3-5 years preferred)
Knowledge of and/or experience with nonprofit organizations (preferred)
Proficiency with QuickBooks
Strong analytical skills with an eye for numerical accuracy
Adept with computer applications such as Excel, Word, and the Internet
Ability to prepare reports providing accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity, and cash flows
Familiarity with processing online donations and contributions
Experience in payroll processing
Proven ability to handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings and reports
Reconciliation of accounts payable and receivable
Maintenance of fixed asset inventory
Preparation of budget forecasts and financial statements
Compliance with tax regulations and timely payment processing
Ability to audit financial transactions and documents based on program requirements
Uphold financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups
Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations
Monitor and maintain internal controls
Assist independent CPA in the review/audit of financials

Additional Responsibilities:

Basic HR responsibilities to ensure regulatory compliance
Support special projects, including fundraising activities
Provide necessary data and reports for grant writing and reporting
