Laughter, Community, and a New Roof

Dear Friends,

As I sat there, tears welling up in my eyes, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. Our second annual Sober Comedy Night had come and gone, but its impact was still unfolding in ways only God could orchestrate.

That night, among the audience was a couple—a family that Saulo, our director of operations and housing, knows from church. The wife had previously joined us for an event at Muskegon Correctional Facility, and just days later, she and her husband drove through our neighborhood, praying over our homes, our men and women, and our staff. Their hearts were clearly aligned with our mission. Naturally, I invited them to Comedy Night. They felt like our kind of people—lovers of Christ, champions of community, and known for their generosity and love for others.

At the event, they heard about our "Raise the Roof" campaign, and something stirred within them. Their hearts moved, and their generosity followed. J. Stevens Construction will soon begin replacing our roof—completely covered by their generosity.

I could hardly believe my eyes. When I received the estimate and saw nothing but zeros, I thought there had to be a mistake—but there wasn’t. Their obedience and generosity—along with the kindness of everyone who gave—made this possible. The roof is covered! And now, thanks to the funds raised at Comedy Night, we can also repair the interior damage caused by the leaks.

We are beyond grateful for J. Stevens Construction and the leadership that made this incredible gift happen. And we are grateful for you. Thank you for believing in this mission, for investing in this community, and for being the hands and feet of Jesus. Your support continues to make miracles like this possible.
