Sober activities (that aren’t boring)
Now that I am sober, what do sober people do? Here are a few activities you can do:
Exercise or participate in sports: Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and boost your mood, and there are many options to choose from, such as running, cycling, yoga, or team sports. Exercise is also a great relapse prevention tool!
Volunteer or participate in community service: Volunteering or community service is rewarding, a great way to connect with others, and makes a positive impact on your community.
Join a club or group centered around a hobby or interest: Look for clubs or groups that focus on personal interests, like photography, cooking, or gardening.
Take a class or workshop: Consider learning a new skill that you have wanted to try. Taking a class or workshop such as painting, woodworking, or dance is a great way to get out, try something new, and meet new people.
Spend time in nature: Going for a hike, camping, spending time at the beach, or in a park can be a great way to relax and connect with nature. This can be done solo, with your family, or with friends.
Attend cultural events or festivals: Muskegon hosts many cultural events and festivals. Some are family centered and with little to no alcohol served. One of our favorite sober festivals is Unity.
Connect with loved ones: Spending quality time with friends and family can be a meaningful and sober way to stay connected and supported.
It's important to find activities that are enjoyable and meaningful to you, and remember that recovery is about more than just avoiding substances – it's about building a fulfilling and rewarding life.
